System of Love EP by The Swimming Pool Q's- MP3 Album
ANNE RICHMOND BOSTON
Anne Richmond Boston was born in Louisville, Kentucky. In 1968, her family moved to Atlanta, where, during her teen years, she demonstrated a flair for drawing. She sang in school chorus and church choir, experiences that developed her understanding of complex vocal harmony. Upon graduation, Anne pursued a career in graphic design, while maintaining her interest in singing. She had a hobby combo of her own, Black Dick, which featured members of Thermos Greenwood, one of Atlanta’s great mid-Seventies bands, and the late Harold Kelling of the legendary Hampton Grease Band.
Anne joined The Swimming Pool Q’s at their formation in 1978, and her signature vocals for The Deep End, The Swimming Pool Q’s, and Blue Tomorrow are rightly celebrated. In addition, Anne developed much of The Q’s promotional material, supervising photo sessions and designing single and album covers for the group. She has provided art and packaging for other recording artists, among them The Coolies' albums, Dig and Doug. Anne left The Q’s in 1987, rejoining in 1998 and contributing to The Q’s current disc, Royal Academy of Reality. She released a solo album in 1990, The Big House of Time (DB RECS 100).
Anne lives in Athens, Georgia, where she creates book designs for the University of Georgia Press. She took part in Indigo Girls production of Jesus Christ Superstar in 1999. She has performed on the National Public Radio syndicated show, Mountain Stage with Robin Hitchcock, David Wilcox, Rob Gal and Stephen McCarthy. In addition to The Swimming Pool Q’s, Anne’s vocals appear on recordings by a wide variety of artists, a partial list of which appears below:
